MORE than 20 base jumpers have confirmed their participation in the inaugural Alor Setar Tower International Base Accuracy Jump Challenge 2010 to be held from Friday to Sunday.
Alor Setar Tower general manager Mazlan Mahmud said the participants included 10 foreigners from Britain, France, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore and Venezuela.
He said that each jumper would have nine attempts throughout the three-day event to make their jumps from the 110m level of the 165m-tall tower and land on a marked spot below.
He said those who landed exactly on the spot would get a perfect 0.00 point with points increasing according to the distance from the mark.
“The jumper with the lowest point close to 0.00 would be named the winner,” Mazlan told a press conference in Alor Setar yesterday.
He said that the Royal Malaysian Navy’s Paskal team would be judging the challenge which would be held from 8am to 6pm daily on the three days.
He said the total prize money was RM5,000 for the top three winners but declined to break down the figure, adding that they would also take home a trophy and a certificate each.
